Kevin Bonenfant receives award

Scout Kevin Bonenfant of Troop 189 in Fort Kent worked this summer on the Mountain Bike/Snowshoe trails to earn his Eagle Scout award. He organized the volunteers, arranged for tools and supplies and directed the workers. He did an amazing job! He and his crew raked off the branches, leaves and duff, dug out tree roots, broke up pieces of ledge, hauled dirt and gravel, filled holes and leveled the riding surface. It was a huge amount of physical work.
In all, Kevin’s team constructed 1800 feet of trail and logged 240 person-hours. Wow! To show our gratitude, the FKOC Board surprised Kevin with a recognition plaque, mounted at the Red Barn Trailhead. Kevin’s project contributes to our ultimate goal of adding another five miles of single-track bike trail to our system. We also thank FKOC members Laura Audibert, Jim Kelly, Leslie Kelly and Matt Kelly for helping Kevin with the project and Seth Hubbard for offering his trail expertise. And our benevolent neighbor, Mickey Levesque, has generously donated his time, equipment and property to enhance the trails.
