Hello FKOC Members and Friends!
Well, it appears that our winter season is finally coming to a close. We had a terrific season—for some folks it was too long and for others it’s never long enough!
We’d like to thank some folks who contributed to our winter season’s successes:
Rental Shop Volunteers—these folks staffed our Shop on Sunday afternoons. Unlike previous years, we had equipment rentals and/or trail pass sales every weekend this season. We thank these people for donating their time for us: Ryan Buttrick, Megan Caron, Don Chouinard, Frances LaBrie, Dona Saucier and Pat Theriault. We also thank Jackie Kometic for staffing the Shop and cleaning the lodge each Saturday.
Jalbert Youth Ski Program–Our Jalbert Program was held on Saturday afternoons from January through mid-February. A variety of children learned to ski and have fun in the snow. We thank our volunteers who made this program possible: Mikaela Paluszek, Carl Theriault, Ben Paradis, Matt Kelly, Pat Theriault, Julie Sanclemente and Gail Johnson. We especially thank Phyllis Jalbert for donating the funds to allow this program to be free of charge for all participants.
Trail Grooming–Our trails were in fantastic shape this year! The new groomer does an amazing job, especially with our expert operators. We are very grateful to Russell Boucher, Carl Theriault and Seth Hubbard for keeping the trails in tip-top condition! Thank you gentlemen!
Skijoring Races–Sylvia Dow-Harvey herded all the cats on the organizing committee and led us to another successful and fun event. Thank you Sylvia!! We’re already looking forward to next year.
Timing Crew–The FKOC hosted quite a few timed events this winter, including high school ski races, a middle school ski race, our Frostbite Races and the Skijoring Races. Bill Loder and his skilled timing crew did an awesome job getting all the information and producing the results regardless of the weather. Timing Chief can be a stressful job, but Bill kept it all together! Thank you Bill, great job!
We also want to thank all our members for supporting FKOC with your memberships. Some people we see a lot, some people we see once a year, and others we never see, but they continue to support with their membership purchases.
As we move into our late spring and summer seasons, we’ll keep you posted on our planned activities and programs—stay tuned. One date to mark down now is Saturday, September 9. We have chosen this date for our annual BBQ and BAND event. Anyone interested in helping us plan this event can contact Laura Audibert at La4568@roadrunner.com or 834-6773.
Don’t let the rainy weather get you down—put on your rain gear, get out and get moving. See you on the trails!
